Scope of the Position

Plans, coordinates, and directs quality programs designed to ensure quality control and quality assurance of the production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate associates.

  • Interface with customer on quality issues.
  • Perform quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records
  • Plans and oversees the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component.
  • Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
  • Analyze problems for root cause and initiate actions.
  • Formulates and maintains quality objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.Interprets quality philosophy to key personnel in organization.
  • Works to assure TS16949 conformance plant wide; acts as management representative for TS16949 activities.
  • Provides management with concise, accurate, up-to-date quality forecasts, indicators and status.
  • Monitor customer metrics; report those to the Plant Manager.Monitor internal quality metrics (i.e. PPM, containment) and report to the Plant Manager.
  • Develops standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality activities.
  • Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
  • Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
  • Directs workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.
  • Plays active role on quality management teams within the organization.Investigates and adjusts customer complaints regarding quality.
  • Manages the Quality Management System for the facility.
  • Manages and controls quality documents.Coordinates the Records Retention system for the facility.
  • Evaluates associate performance on a prescribed basis and recommend changes in positions and pay rates as required.
  • Must be flexible for change and be able to work well under deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Responsible for maintaining 5S standards as they relate to housekeeping in your assigned work area.
  • Maintains compliance to company policies, work rules, safety & housekeeping standards.
  • Follow ISO 14001 and TS 16949 Requirements per standards

Skills & Abilities

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Should have prior experience with Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of the Toyota Production System (TPS) with Hoshin Planning techniques.
  • Highly organized.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail along with ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • High degree of independent decision-making.
  • Makes decisions concerning the management and operation of all quality functions of the plant.
  • Has decision authority over quality issues / discrepancies at the plant level.
  • Authority to approve customer returns and the costs associated with such decisions.
  • Makes decisions concerning strategic plans, budgets, quality equipment, as well as day to day operational needs of the quality department.
  • A key decision-maker.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Prefer Bachelor's degree in business management or engineering, and/or five to eight years experience in quality management.
  • Experience in automotive background and prior management experience is a plus.
